The Ghost Town

Every year, for 21 years now, on second sunday of January, there is huge charity event in Poland called Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy. Every year they collect money for expensive medical equipment to save children’s life. Every year they spend money for different type of equipment (e.g. cardiology, neurology etc.). This year was different. For the first time they decided that half of money (and it’s always millions of US dollars) will go to replace the earlier equipment with new and the other half will go to help older people. In every city and village in Poland almost all people have a red heart sticked to their jackets on that day. And the event is known not only in Poland but also in other countries where are polish people.

Today I went to the city centre mainly to see fire works as the “light to heaven” is also organized in every city. Exactly at 8 p.m. there are lights, candles or fire works in all cities where Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy organizes something (in other words: everywhere).

There are concerts, auctions and other charity events during that day (and also earlier and later). Most of people visit the area for concerts and fire works.

This year fire works were quite short, but I think I can use some later.
But I specifically liked the ghost photo. Setting up for 4 seconds gave it quite interesting result.
